About us

The “Practitioners’ Dialogue on Climate Investments” (PDCI) seeks to facilitate a better understanding of policy instruments and transformative processes that shape enabling framework conditions for private climate investments. The PDCI offers a platform to policy makers from developing countries and emerging economies to engage with industry and financial sector representatives. Hence, PDCI events also provide an excellent opportunity for businesses and financial institutions to present their climate products and services to governments and to other enterprises.

PDCI focuses on smart public incentive schemes, effective regulatory frameworks and innovative financial mechanisms with the aim of encouraging more private investment in climate change adaptation measures, energy efficiency improvements and renewable energy projects.

The dialogue series

Building on the results of the Lead-Up Event in Bonn, Germany on 9-10 June, the PDCI dialogue process connects public sector decision-makers with business and financial sector practitioners, and enables cross-sectoral exchange and networking. It provides an international platform to present and discuss policy approaches, financial mechanisms and cooperation models to mobilize private investments in renewable energy projects, energy-efficiency improvements and adaptation actions. Additionally, PDCI offers the opportunity to work in small expert groups on specific investment-related challenges and business opportunities in order to develop ideas for solutions and initiatives, and to attract international support.

Funding and implementing agency

The “Dialogue Forum Climate Investments” and the initiated project, the global Practitioners’ Dialogue on Climate Investments (PDCI) are implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
